Bio

Seven years ago, the shimmering psych-pop of General Mojos found life in the damp basements of Seattle’s house show scene. In the years since band members have come and gone—but bandleader Dune Butler has remained the glue, continuing to craft and perform hypnotic, flower-powered soundscapes with original members Eric Vanderbilt-Matthews, Sam Veatch, and David Salonen, as well as a broadening community of visionary artists.

This flexible line-up and widening scope of influences has ushered in a new era for General Mojos, captured on their new self-produced album, “Cycles”. The album is centered around cycles and patterns, both positive or destructive, that everyone experiences. Cascading synth lines, atmospheric vocals, and fuzzed-out guitars highlight the buzzed blur of performing, the energy of a dance floor, the short-lived thrill of escapism, sourness of lost opportunities and relationships, and the awareness of cycles in life and choosing to reconcile with them or not. Contributions from recent members Skyler Mehal (guitar) and William Mapp (drums) help to add new spices into the cosmic stew of the Mojo soundscape.
